The AspenTimes reports non-profit Roaring Fork Community Development Corp. (RFCDC) bought the Pan and Fork Mobile Home Park in Basalt, Colorado last year and has submitted preliminary plans to the town government to redevelop just under half of the property into a 112,000 square-foot combination retail, hotel, classroom, non-profit organizations, and residential. The town of Basalt will develop the larger parcel into a city park on the banks of the Roaring Fork River. Philanthropist George Stranahan of RFCDC?s parent Manaus Fund, and Michael McVoy, president of RFCDC, arranged private funding through the Alpine Bank, donations and grants for the acquisition, and now are seeking replacement housing for the 75 residents occupying the 38 factory-built homes on the site. At least one third of the current homes are vulnerable to flooding, requiring the land to be built up before the redevelopment begins.
